The Name
Impilo — life, health, wellbeing. The very essence of existence. The word every South African child learns before they learn the alphabet.
We named ourselves after life. Then we refused to be defined by it.

IMPILO operates as a creative house with three distinct labels — each with its own identity, its own customer, and its own relationship to clothing. United by a single uncompromising standard of construction.
The original. Premium basics and statement outerwear constructed from the finest South African and imported materials. Every piece is considered slowly — cut, sewn, and finished by hand in Johannesburg. Built to last a decade, not a season.
Limited run. Numbered pieces. Artisanal construction with hand-applied distressing, mineral washing, and individually finished details. No two pieces are identical. Kotton Kernel is for the collector — the individual who understands that scarcity is a form of respect.
